Second time in Chile, third time on Cerro San Cristóbal, a hill in the center of Santiago. The teleférico was completely worth the 2290 peso ticket price ($3.60 USD) to see sweeping views of the city after a hard rain.

The tallest building here is the Costanera Center, the tallest building in South America. The second tallest is the Titanium, and the triplet towers in front complete Titanium park.

Santiago is in a cuenca, a basin whose sides are the Andes mountains on one side and the coastal mountains on the other. It makes for beautiful views, but it traps the smog.

One of many street dogs in Santiago. This one has chosen a particularly kind spot, where many people (including tourists) come for Mass and to see the views of the city.
A dog’s life here isn’t always bad. Some have winter coats and even neck warmers (a human headband around its neck).
